David Tshabalala Joins Converse’s “Create At Home” Campaign

Superstar illustrator David “Slaying Goliath” Tshabalala is collaborating with iconic global sneaker brand Converse on their #CreateAtHome campaign. The campaign sees the brand partner with 5 South African designers to each create their own limited edition customised sneakers in an effort to support artists and communities affected by the global Covid-19 epidemic.

“Inspired by our communities and their creativity, we are supporting 5 local artist that have been facing unprecedented challenges during this time, to design a range of limited-edition sneakers only available online and in the efforts of giving back to an establishment that has been affected by the pandemic, Converse has selected the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund in which all proceeds will go to following the sale of all sneakers.” the brand says.

David Tshabalala’s sneaker, named In Living Colour is inspired by the bright colours of the 90’s “In Living Colour, is inspired by my love for an era defined by a bold, bright colour palette which I’ve adapted as my signature style over the years” he says.

These sneakers are offered for sale online on a limited, bespoke, pre-order basis as part of the Converse #CreateAtHome campaign with proceeds going to the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund.

On working with Converse, David says “Few brands scream ‘street-cred’ more than Converse. My impact on pop culture reverberates from the ‘gram to the streets and there’s no better fit for me to collab with.”
